Several Student-Athletes Recognized at Honors Convocation
Troy University's 2011 Honors Convocation was held on Monday, April 11, in the Claudia Crosby Theater. Among the honorees were a number of student-athletes who were recognized for outstanding work in the classroom.
Both the Sorrell and Clements award was presented by Director of Student-Athlete Services, Matt Mayotte. The Sorrell award was presented to Kortney Cooper, a Trojan softball player. The Sorrell Award recognizes the graduating female student-athlete with the highest grade point average. The Clements Award was presented to Caleb Osborne from the Trojan track team. The Clements Award recognizes the graduating male student-athlete with the highest grade point average.
"All of the student-athletes recognized are great representatives of the University, the Athletics department, and their respective teams and coaching staffs," Mayotte said. "They have mastered the time management skills required for success as both an athlete and a full time student and have made the conscious decision not to sacrifice one for the sake of the other. Many congratulations to all of them for a job well done."
