GAME NOTES :: LISTEN LIVE :: LIVE STATS
Troy closes out the regular season with the Sun Belt's Florida swing. The Trojans face Florida Atlantic on Thursday at 6 pm CST in Boca Raton.
The Men of Troy will close out the regular season with a match-up against FIU on Saturday in Miami.
Bouncing back from a loss to Arkansas State in the home finale will be priority number one for the Trojans (8-18, 6-8), who have won four of their last six contests.
Florida Atlantic had dropped two in a row before knocking off FIU in overtime on Saturday in Miami. The 80-78 win over the Golden Panthers improved FAU's record to 19-9, 11-3 this season – tops in the Sun Belt's East Division.
Troy's Vernon Taylor leads the team in scoring 15.5 ppg. The senior had his consecutive free throws made streak snapped at 37 on Saturday.
Sophomore Will Weathers is trying to improve his mark on Troy's Division I season assists list. With 158 assists this season, Weathers ranks sixth, but could get as high as fourth with a strong pair of games to close out the regular season.
The New Orleans, La.-native leads the Sun Belt in assists, steals per game (2.0), and minute per game (36.8). He has played 39-plus minutes in four straight contests.
The Owls are led by likely Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year Brett Royster. The senior has blocked 90 shots this season the seventh best mark in Division I. He also leads the team in rebounding (6.0 rpg).
Sophomore south paw Greg Gantt leads the team in scoring at 14.2 ppg. He's joined in double-figures by fellow second-year player Ray Taylor (11.7 ppg). Taylor is one of two Owls with triple-digit assists (105).
The other is junior Alex Tucker (118). Both players rank in the top five in the Sun Belt behind Weathers.
The Trojans leads the all-time series 19-7, but fell to FAU in the first meeting between the two programs this season. Ray Taylor scored 24 points, including hitting six 3-pointers to down Troy in overtime 82-77 despite a career night from senior Levan Patsatsia.
The forward from Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia posted then career high totals of 21 points and 10 rebounds in the loss – his only double-double this season.
Coverage of Thursday night's game will begin at 5:30 pm CST on the Troy Sports Network by IMG College. Barry McKnight will bring you all the action from courtside at FAU Arena.
