Preseason All-American Honors Continue to Roll In for Hannah, Ray

2012 Preseason Louisville Slugger All-Americans

For the second time in a week, senior shortstop Tyler Hannah and senior right-handed pitcher Tyler Ray continued to rack up more preseason accolades, as both players were named 2012 Louisville Slugger Preseason All-Americans by the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.

Hannah was named to the first team, while Ray was named to the second team. Both players were the only selections from the Sun Belt Conference.

The Collegiate Baseball Newspaper named both players 2011 Louisville Slugger All-Americans, as Hannah was selected to the first team, while Ray took home second team honors.

Last season, Hannah led the Trojans and finished second in the Sun Belt with a .370 batting average, while hitting seven home runs and driving 53 RBI's. Hannah's 27 doubles were the third most in a single season for a Trojan.

The Gardendale, Ala. native was selected as the first team third baseman by the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, but will move to shortstop in 2012.

Ray, the reigning Sun Belt Pitcher of the Year, was a selected to the second team after recording 12 wins and a 2.39 ERA in 2011. Ray and Stetson's Kurt Schluter were the only two starting pitchers selected as Preseason All-Americans that return this season after going undefeated in 2011.

Ray returns to the top of the Troy rotation for 2012 and is currently second in school history in wins by a pitcher, while the Hoover, Ala. native also sits third all-time in games started with 46.

This is the second preseason All-American selection for Hannah and Ray, as both were named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association Preseason All-American team last week. Ray was a first team selection, while Hannah was selected as the third team shortstop.

The Florida Gators received the most selections, as seven players including the Preseason National Player of the Year selection, catcher Mike Zunino, were all selected by the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.

The Troy baseball team opens up the 2012 season on February 17, 2012 at Riddle-Pace Field with a four game series against the Central Michigan Chippewas at 6:00 p.m.
