Trojans Take Success To Mercer

Troy women's basketball travels to take on the Mercer Bears on Sunday.
Game Notes
Troy, Ala. – Troy (1-8, 0-0) women's basketball hits the road again for their second straight road contest on Sunday the Trojans will take on the Mercer University Bears (2-7, 1-1) in Macon, Georgia.
The Trojans will enter Sunday's game off of the momentum of having defeated their instate rival Alabama State in Montgomery on Thursday. The Trojans bring with them DeAngela Sword, Ieva Nagy and Jasmine Pitts, all of whom recorded double digits against the Hornets, with Sword recording 21 total points; the most single game points scored by a Trojan this season.
Mercer will look to Sunday for redemption on their home court. The Bears are currently 0-3 inside the University Center on the campus of Mercer University. The Bears are also looking to bounce back from a definitive loss to #14 Georgia 80-43. Mercer brings with them Briana Williams who was named as Atlantic Sun Player of the week earlier in the season. Williams also leads the Bears in scoring as she averages 12.6 points a game.
Mercer currently leads the overall series record between the two squads at 11-9, including a 8-2 record against Troy on their home court. However, Trojan head coach Michael Murphy is 4-3 against Mercer in his 10 seasons at the helm for Troy.
The Trojans will take on the Bears on Sunday; tipoff is set for 2pm.
