TROY, Ala. – As the holiday season approaches, many Troy student-athletes are giving their time to help the less fortunate, and now they are asking for your help.
The Trojans will be taking part in the annual Big Brothers Big Sisters Christmas Party this year. The party is being held on Friday, December 2, 2011 at Park Memorial Church on Elba Highway. The event runs from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and relies heavily on volunteers to create a memorable evening for all of the children involved.
A signup sheet for volunteers from the Troy University campus is available in Room 332 of the Veterans Memorial Stadium Tower. For those outside of the Troy campus wishing to volunteer, you are encouraged to directly contact Big Brothers Big Sisters of Pike County at (334) 566-2454.
Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Troy Student-Athlete Advisory Committee are asking for volunteers to sign up for one of three time slots. Volunteers can work from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Volunteers from throughout the Troy community are welcomed to help set up, clean up, distribute gifts and interact with the children at the organization's annual Christmas Party. Those who are not able to volunteer at the party can still help by bringing unwrapped gifts to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Pike County offices.
Those offices are located in the Family Guidance Center of Alabama at 518 South Three Notch Street in Troy. For more information regarding Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Family Guidance Center you are encouraged to call (334) 566-2454.
