CEDAR CITY, Utah – The Trojans have headed west to take on the Southern Utah Thunderbirds in the final non-conference road game of November.
Troy (1-3) is looking to earn its first win against a non-conference opponent on the road since November 2009 when the Trojans defeated Auburn, 81-77.
More importantly, the Trojans are looking to get a win, after losing back-to-back games to East Tennessee State and UAB.
On Tuesday, for the second-straight game, R.J. Scott led the Trojans win 17 points, but it was a poor shooting effort in the second half that doomed Troy against the Blazers.
The Trojans are trying to stop a trend of 20-point scorers, as Troy has allowed at least one player to score 20 points in the first three of four games this season.
Southern Utah (4-2), Troy's opponent for the final game of this three-game road swing, is coming off win a 75-58 win against NAIA Southern Virginia.
Troy is 1-1 all-time against the Thunderbirds. The last time both teams met was in 1994, as the Trojans fell 95-69 to Southern Utah on the road.
Tip off for Southern Utah is set for 8:00 p.m. CST, Saturday, at the Centrum Arena in Cedar City, Utah.
Troy will face East Tennessee State on Tuesday, November 29 at 7:00 p.m., in what will be the first home game for the Trojans since November 13, when Troy knocked off LaGrange, 116-63.
