Troy's women's basketball team had success individualy but were unable to claim victory at home.

Troy, Ala. – The Trojan (0-3, 0-0) women's basketball team fell to Belhaven (8-0, 0-0) in tight 56-53 contest on Tuesday night. The loss to the Blazers was the first for the Trojans under head coach Michael Murphy.
Turnovers continued to be an issue for the Trojans as they ended the contest having totaled 25 turnovers. Belhaven would go on to total 20 points off of turnovers. The Trojans also struggled to stop the Belhaven's Regena Jackson who totaled 25 points for the Blazers.
Troy had more individual success with two players recording the first double doubles of the season. Senior DeAngela Sword totaled 16 points and 14 rebounds giving Troy their first double double since March. Sword has now recorded double digits in scoring in each game.
Sophomore Ieva Nagy also recorded a double double; the first of her career. Nagy total 10 points and 10 rebounds against the Blazers.
Senior Tenia Manuel was only one point shy of recording the third double double of the night as she recorded 9 total points and 11 rebounds.
Despite the score the Trojans did out shoot their opponent from the field. The Trojans ended the night shooting 35% while the Blazers were only able to claim 29%.
“Sometimes you just have to learn tough lessons,” said head coach Michael Murphy. “We're just going to learn from this, work hard and continue to move forward. In the three losses our opponents have made exactly four more shots than us so we are right there we just have to continue to work, learn and get better and we will.”
The Trojans will now turn their efforts towards Maine when they take on the Maine Black Bears in the Dead River Company Classic. Tipoff is set for 6 pm on Friday.
