Trojans Travel to Face In-State Rival UAB on Tuesday Night

Troy men's basketball team hit the road, looking to snap a 11-game losing streak to non-conference opponets on the road.

The Troy men's basketball team will hit the road for second-straight game and face in-state rival UAB, Tuesday night with tip off set for 7:00 p.m. at Bartow Arena in Birmingham.
The Trojans (1-2) are still searching for their first road win of the 2011-12 season after losing, 81-71, to the East Tennessee State Buccaneers on Saturday afternoon in Johnson City, Tennessee.
The last win for the Trojans in a non-conference road game came in 2009, when Troy defeated the Auburn Tigers, 81-77. Since that win, Troy has lost 11 straight games to non-conference opponents away from Sartain Hall.
Troy will finish out this three-game road swing by facing Southern Utah on Saturday night with tip off set for 8:00 p.m. in Cedar City, Utah.
UAB comes into the matchup 0-2, after falling to Murray State, 62-55. Last season, the Blazers were one of five teams in the country to beat teams that have appeared in the last two Final Fours.
Troy has never beaten UAB in four previous matchups and lost 77-59 to the Blazers in 2009 at Bartow Arena.
All 11 players for Troy that have played this season are averaging five points per game and have played at least 13 minutes per game this season.
The Trojans are averaging 90.7 points per game and 48.7 rebounds per game to start the 2011-12 season. 90.7 points per game is the most points scored by a Don-Maestri led team at Troy since the 2005-06 season when Troy started off the year by averaging 92.0 points per game.
The Trojans return to face ETSU at home on Tuesday, November 29 at the 7:00 p.m. at Sartain Hall. Troy is 1-0 at home this season, after knocking off LaGrange, 116-63, on November 13.

- The Trojans return to the road after falling to the East Tennessee State Buccaneers, 81-71, last Saturday in Johnson City, Tennessee
- This contest marks is the second of a three straight road games for Troy between East Tennessee State, UAB, and Southern Utah.
- This is the fifth meeting between the Trojans and the UAB Blazers, who are 4-0 all-time against Troy.
- The Trojans are 0-2 on the road this season; Troy fell to the Texas Tech Red Raiders, 90-85, on the road to begin the 2011-12 season and lost to East Tennessee State, last Saturday, 81-71.
- Against ETSU, sophomore guard R.J. Scott led the Trojans with 15 points against the Bucs and sophomore guard Nic Combs added 10 points in his first career start for Troy in the loss.
- Ray Chambers, Emil Jones, and R.J. Scott all recorded double-doubles in the Trojans first win of the seaosn against the LaGrange Panthers, which was the first time Troy had three players with double-doubles in D-I history.
- Head coach Don Maestri, is one of just four coaches with 30+ years at his current school. Associate head coach David Felix is taking it one step further. Felix is in his 31st year as an assistant at Troy.
- The Trojans finish off this three-game road trip in Cedar City, Utah as Troy faces Southern Utah this Saturday at 8:00 p.m.
