Complete All-Conference Release
MIAMI, Fla. – As the Troy volleyball team prepares for tomorrow's opening round match-up with WKU at the Sun Belt Volleyball Championships, one Trojan has been awarded for her performance this season.
Sophomore libero Courtney Cohen was named to the All-Sun Belt Second Team as announced on Wednesday night at the annual Sun Belt Volleyball Championship Banquet.
The Woodstock, Ga., native led a defense that allowed opponents to hit just .179 on the season, the fifth best mark in the Sun Belt. The Trojans led the league with 15.78 digs/set average as a team while Cohen's 4.57 digs/set average also paced the conference.
Cohen posted 512 digs in the regular season, breaking the Troy single-season record of 488 that had stood since 1997. Just a sophomore, Cohen has already etched her name in the Trojan record books.
Last season she posted a freshman record, 431 digs while setting the single-match record with 31 digs against Georgia State. She broke her own record in 2011, again against Georgia State, as she recorded 35 digs on the road in Atlanta in a Troy win.
The sophomore is already nearing the 1,000 dig mark for her career as she sits with 943 career digs. That mark is already the ninth best in Troy's history.
Cohen is just the second player in program history to earn All-Sun Belt honors, joining Meghan Gilroy who was also named to the Second Team in 2009.
The Trojans take the floor in Miami on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. as they look to knock off the tournament's top seed, WKU, and advance to the Sun Belt Semifinals on Friday.
