Cohen Grabs Second Weekly Award

NEW ORLEANS, La. – After helping the Trojans snap a four-match losing streak with a win over South Alabama, Courtney Cohen has been named the Sun Belt's Defensive Player of the Week.

Cohen posted 16 digs in the Trojans 3-1 over the Jaguars as Troy closed out a five-match road trip in winning fashion. Cohen is now averaging 4.83 digs/set on the season, the best mark in the Sun Belt.

She has posted at least 15 digs in 16 of the Trojans 21 matches and is on pace to break the school record for digs in a season. Cohen is on pace to record 524 digs in 2011, which would put her 36 ahead of the current school record of 488.

The Defensive Player of the Week award is the second of the season for Cohen who also won the award in September after breaking the school record with 35 digs in a match at Georgia State.

The Trojans now return home as they host Denver and North Texas this weekend. The Trojans host the Pioneers on Friday at 7:00 p.m. before hosting the Mean Green on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Troy will looking to build on their perfect 5-0 mark at Sartain Hall this season.
