Trojans Look to Rebound on the Road at UALR

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Just three days after having their modest two-game winning streak snapped by Louisiana-Lafayette, the Troy University women's basketball team will look to rebound Saturday afternoon in Sun Belt Conference action.

To do so, Troy (4-12, 1-2 Sun Belt) will have to defeat West Division favorite and defending Sun Belt champion, UALR (8-5, 2-0 Sun Belt) on their home floor.

The Trojans of UALR are led by preseason Sun Belt Conference player of the year, Chastity Reed, who is averaging nearly 19 points and six rebounds per game. She is the only player averaging double figures for UALR.

Troy is led by junior DeAngela Sword (Montgomery, Ala./Pensacola JC) with over 14 points per game and junior Donette McNair (New London, Conn./New London HS) with 13 points and nine rebounds per game. The two are the only active Trojans averaging in double figures – the other is Kirsten Smith (Pensacola, Fla./Washington HS).

In the Trojans last contest, they fell 73-63 to Louisiana-Lafayette despite a career-high 26 points from Sword; and career nights from Ieva Nagy (Adelaide, Australia/Annesley College) and Aarika Howard (Atlanta, Ga./Westlake HS).

The Trojans will be looking for the first victory over UALR in the series, as they trail 6-0 in the all-time series. Of the six games, five of them have been played at the Jack Stephens Center here in Little Rock. The game will also mark the 12th time this season that the Trojans have played a game in the afternoon hours as it is scheduled to tip at 4:30 in the afternoon.
