The Trojans fell just short on Thursday night, dropping its second Sun Belt game of the year 93-91 at Louisiana-Lafayette, but Troy gets another chance to record its first league win of the season on Saturday at UALR.
Tip-off for Saturday night's game is set for 7 pm in the Jack Stephens Center on the campus of UALR.
Sophomore point guard Will Weathers was the catalyst for Troy (2-12, 0-2) on Thursday. The New Orleans-native scored 32 points – the most by a Trojan this season in the loss. 32 points more than doubled his career high.
Weathers leads the Sun Belt in assists (6.3) and steals (2.1). He also ranks in the top 25 in the league in scoring (10.8) and rebounds (5.2).
Vernon Taylor scored 20 points in his return from an ankle injury suffered in Troy's last win against Western Michigan. Taylor had missed the Trojans' last two contests. He averages 15.7 ppg – the second best mark in the Sun Belt.
UALR (8-9, 0-2) is led by senior guard Solomon Bozeman. The transfer from South Florida ranks in the top five in the league at 15.1 ppg.
Troy has won the last two meetings with the other Trojans and holds a 4-3 lead in the all-time series.
