Trojans Welcome in USA on Thursday

Troy (4-15, 2-5) gets a break from the road life with a home match-up on Thursday night.

The Trojans will host in-state conference rival South Alabama as Sun Belt play continues. Tip-off is set for 7 pm in Sartain Hall.

At halftime of Thursday night's game, Troy's Fall 2010 3.0 Club will be honored. Included in those being recognized will be a trio of Trojan hoopsters – seniors Bernard Toombs and Levan Patsatsia along with junior Flynn Clayman.

Troy has won its last two match-ups with the Jaguars – including ousting USA from the 2010 Sun Belt Conference tournament in Hot Springs, Ark. last spring. The Trojans have won the last two meetings on their home floor.

Last season, Troy knocked off the Jags 73-66 in overtime behind a double-double (14 points, 13 rebounds) from Yamene Coleman. The tournament contest went the way of the Men of Troy thanks in part to 17 points from Richard Delk.

Current senior guard Vernon Taylor has averaged 9.0 ppg in three games against the Jags and has knocked down 4-of-5 3-pointers in those meetings. Taylor leads Troy in scoring this season at 15.4 ppg.

South Alabama (8-10, 2-5) is led by sophomore swingman Martino Brock (15.1 ppg). Redshirt freshman big man Augustine Rubit is one of just two players in the Sun Belt averaging a double-double this season (13.1 ppg, 10.8 rpg).

Preseason All-Sun Belt honoree Tim Williams rounds out the Jags team members scoring in double-figures at 13.8 ppg. He is scoring 17.7 ppg in his career against the Trojans.
