Troy hosts conference rival North Texas on Saturday night at 7 pm in Sartain Hall for the Sun Belt Game of the Week.
The Trojans (3-13, 1-3) picked up their first league win of the season and halted a four-game losing skid with an 82-68 victory over Western Kentucky on Thursday night.
Troy is 2-6 all-time against the Mean Green, including a 66-63 loss in the 2010 Sun Belt Championship game last March in Hot Springs, Ark.
North Texas (79.0 ppg) and Troy (73.3 ppg) rank first and second, respectively, in the league in scoring.
Troy has gotten a big boost over the last three games from sophomore guard Will Weathers. The current Sun Belt Player of the Week, Weathers has averaged 25.3 ppg during that stretch and handed out 23 total assists.
Vernon Taylor led the Trojans with 20 points against WKU on Thursday. He leads the Trojans in scoring at 15.2 ppg a total that ranks fourth in the Sun Belt.
North Texas (14-3, 3-1) features perhaps the most talented backcourt in the Sun Belt Conference. Starting guards Josh White (14.8 ppg – 5th in SBC) and Tristan Thompson (16.9 ppg – 1st in SBC) were both selected to the preseason all-conference team.
The team also features one of the top rebounders in the league – George Odufuwa. The senior is second in the league in rebounding at 10.1 ppg and field goal percentage (58.2%).
Coverage on the Troy Sports Network by IMG College begins at 6:30 pm with the State Farm Pregame Show. Barry McKnight and Jerry Miller will bring you all the action from courtside.
One lucky fan in attendance will win a book scholarship courtesy of Barnes and Noble. Hot dogs will also be sold for .50 cents.
ABOUT THE SUN BELT NETWORK
The Sun Belt Network is the product of an agreement with regional television partners Comcast Sports Southeast (CSS) and Cox Sports Television (CST). The agreement between the three parties results in the broadcasting of football, men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball, volleyball and softball contests throughout the upcoming year.
Through additional distribution agreements the reach of the Sun Belt Network has expanded in the states of Texas (Texas Channel and Charter Denton), Florida (Bright House) and Kentucky (WKYU). These supplementary distributions beyond CSS and CST provide Sun Belt Network broadcasts to over 15 million households during football season throughout the southeast.
The Sun Belt Network basketball game of the week is often available on ESPN3.com outside of the CSS and CST markets.
