Trojan Walk has changed the set-up for Saturday
The Troy University Department of Athletics and the Sound of the South have made changes to Trojan Walk beginning this week at the Arkansas State game.
In the past, Trojan Walk would begin at The Quad with the football team leading the Sound of the South and the Troy University cheerleaders. However, this weekend, the band and cheerleaders will start at The Quad beginning at 12:15 pm, and the football will join the walk at Hawkins Hall and march toward Tailgate Terrace.
In other news involving this week's game, the Troy Student Government Association hosted its annual blood bowl against Middle Tennessee on the birthday of head coach Larry Blakeney on Tuesday. The event was a great success with the Red Cross collecting over 150 pints of blood.
The SGA also made "We Love Larry" t-shirts and have made the shirt's message the theme for the pep rally this Thursday at 6:30 pm inside Sartain Hall. During the pep rally the SGA will be presenting a resolution to Blakeney.
"We want Coach Blakeney to know what he means to, not only the football team, but the student body as well,” SGA president William Filmore said. “He has served the university for 20 years now and has played a very important role in the success of the football program in its Division I-A tenure.
“Much of the growth of our student body and the university in general over the past 20 years can be accredited to Coach Blakeney and his efforts. In the south, football is very important. When you win football games, people are drawn to Troy University."
The SGA is asking students and fans to attend the Trojan Walk on Saturday as the football team walks from Hawkins Hall to the stadium down University Avenue beginning at 12:15 pm.
