Trojans Prepare for Season Opener, Take Down Alumni on Saturday

The 2010 Trojans volleyball team is one week away from opening the regular season at Auburn

TROY, Ala. - With just one week to play before the start of the regular season, the 2010 edition of the Troy University Trojan volleyball team prepared for their opener against Auburn by playing against some of the former teammates in their annual alumni game Saturday morning.
This year, six former Trojan members competed in the match, including alum Meghan Gilroy. Other alumni present were Megan Washlow, Jean McCarthy, and Jennifer White.
The match consisted of four matches, each of which the 2010 squad won. The 2010 Trojans eased their way to victories in a pair of the sets, while the alumni team pushed them to their limits in sets one and four.
The Trojans gained valuable experience that they will take to them into the season, which begins with a tournament in Auburn August 27 and 28. The first home match for Troy is set for Labor Day weekend, and is the first of three matches over the weekend as they host the 2010 Trojan Spiketacular inside Sartain Hall.
