Troy University head baseball coach Bobby Pierce announced that Jeff Crane has resigned his position on the Trojans coaching staff, effective immediately.
Crane, a native of Montgomery, Ala., has served as the Trojans pitching coach since the 2007 season.
“Jeff decided to resign due to personal and family matters,” Pierce said. “All of us at Troy University, and especially those close to the baseball program greatly appreciate Coach Crane's years of service while involved with our program.
“We wish Jeff and his family nothing but the best as he moves forward into the future.”
Crane missed the Trojans Sun Belt Conference tournament championship game due to the birth of his second child. He and his wife, Shannon, also have a two-year old.
Pierce said the search for a replacement will begin immediately.
