SKILLMAN, NJ - The final region rankings were released by the ITA Monday afternoon, and both of the Troy University tennis programs were able to get into the rankings on the final week.
The men have been in the rankings all season, while the women cracked the top 10 for the first time during the last week of the rankings.
Troy (20-5) moved up one spot in the final rankings of the Southern Region, from seventh to sixth. The Trojans claimed the Sun Belt Conference Championship on the way to their first NCAA appearance in school history. The Trojans finished just behind Ole Miss, Auburn, Alabama, LSU and Mississippi State - appearing as the first non-SEC school in the rankings.
Troy played four of the top 10 teams in the final rankings, recording a 3-3 record; with all three losses coming against teams ranked ahead of them in the final rankings. The Trojans lost to Ole Miss and twice to Auburn throughout the season.
Freshman Luis Henrique Grangeiro completed his first season of collegiate tennis ranked as one of the best 20 players in the Southern Region. The freshman finished 19th overall in the final rankings, and is the only member of the Sun Belt Conference among the top 20 individuals.
Meanwhile, the Troy (11-9) women finished the season ranked 10th overall in the Southern Region, after not being ranked all season. The Trojans are one of two Sun Belt Conference schools in the final rankings, joining Louisiana-Lafayette in a set of rankings that include five SEC schools.
