Trio of Trojans Earn All-Conference

A trio of Troy baseball players were named to the 2010 Sun Belt All-Conference team, announced tonight during pre-tournament activities in Murfreesboro.
Juniors Adam Bryant (Pensacola, Fla.) and Chase Whitley (Ranburne, Ala.) were named first team All-Conference, Bryant at shortstop and Whitley as a utility player.
Whitley was also named second team All-Conference at two positions, both as a relief pitcher and as a designated hitter. He was joined on the All-Sun Belt second team by senior outfielder Steven Felix (Panama City, Fla.).
Bryant is a candidate for the Brooks Wallace Award and is one of the best defensive shortstops in the nation with just three errors. He is also among national leaders with five leadoff homers, and is near the top of the Sun Belt in slugging (1st), runs (3rd), RBI (4th),
doubles (11th), triples (2nd), homers (2nd) and total bases (1st). He also enters the SBC Tourney ranked 14th in batting average while riding a 14-game hitting streak.
Felix has put his name among the all-time great players in Troy history. He currently ranks fourth in games (199), third in runs (155), sixth in walks (99), tied for seventh in triples (6), ninth in total bases (278) and first in HBP (41). He is also sixth on the career strikeout list (119).
Whitley leads all Sun Belt pitchers in ERA (2.29), strikeouts per nine innings (9.00) and batting average against (.199) while having posted a 5-3 record with seven saves in 28 relief appearances this year. He is also third on the Troy squad with a .347 batting average with eight homers and 45 RBI.
