Trojans Finish Tied For 9th

AUGUSTA, Ga. –The Troy University women's golf team closed the Administaff Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate on Monday with a final round score of 315 to finish tied for ninth in the 14-team event.
Coastal Carolina pulled away in the final round with a three-over par score of 291 to win the tournament by 15 shots over host Augusta State at Forest Hills Golf Club.
The Troy Trojans opened the event with a 313, but struggled home with a 320 in the second round to slip into ninth place. Lamar bettered the Trojans in the final round by six shots to finish in a tie with the Trojans.
The gap between UNC Wilmington in third place back to Troy and Lamar in ninth was just 22 shots.
Augusta State's Tamara Luccioli held the tournament's individual lead going into the final round, but posted a 76 on Monday to slip into a tie for second. Coastal Carolina's Aruka Felgueroso posted the best round of the tournament, a 68, on Monday to charge to a four-shot victory with a final score of three-over par 219.
Freshman Sofia Bjorkman led the Trojans with a 13-over par score 157 after the second round, but struggled to an 80 in the final round to finish tied for 31st overall at 21-over par 237. Senior Desirae Zine and junior Liz Balkcom finished tied with Bjorkman after posting final round scores of 77 and 79, respectively.
Senior Kaley Branton tied for 44th at 24-over par after a final round score of 79 and sophomore Nikki Crowley tied for 67th after a final round score of 87 left her at 36-over par.
The Troy women will be back in action at the Georgia State Panther Intercollegiate March 21-23 in Stockbridge, Ga.
