Tailgate Terrace Closed For Construction

Troy University baseball fans who normally watch the Trojans play at home from lawn chairs outside the leftfield fence will have to make their way into the stands for the rest of the 2010 season.
The reason is that all of Tailgate Terrace has been temporarily closed for the indefinite future because of a construction project that will serve to upgrade the entrance to Troy University as well as provide fans, students and alumni an area to enjoy for years to come.
"The Tailgate Terrace project has been in the works for quite a while and is going to make that entire area a dynamic entrance into the University," Trojans Director of Athletics Steve Dennis said. "The only downside to the project is that construction there is going to make the entire area off-limits to all but construction workers until the project is completed."
The Tailgate Terrace project will include an new entrance to the University and will be a pedestrian pavilion that will serve a focal point for Trojans football and baseball tailgating for years to come.
No individuals or vehicles will be allowed onto Tailgate Terrace during the construction project because of insurance liability and safety issues.
The Troy baseball team will return to Riddle-Pace Field on Saturday against Brown to open an eight-game home stand. The teams will play a day-night double-header on Saturday, with game times set for 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.
