The Troy University women's golf team will open its spring schedule on Monday at the USA Lady Jaguar Invitational in Mobile.
The event, which features 16 of the top women's golf teams in the south, will open with 36 holes of play on Monday at the Azalea City Golf Club. There will be a final 18-holes of play on Tuesday to complete the tournament. Play on both days will start with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
Joining the Trojans in the tournament is defending champion Florida International as well as UAB, Alabama State, Centenary, Jackson State, Jacksonville State, Lamar, Marshall, Memphis, Samford, South Alabama, Southern Mississippi, Stetson, West Florida and Winthrop
The Azalea City Golf Club course will play as a par 72, at 6,051 yards.
The Trojans set to play in the tournament are seniors Desirae Zine (Vaccaville, Cal.) and Kaley Branton (Cartersville, Ga.), junior Liz Balkcom (Juliette, Ga.), sophomores Haley Lawrence (Prattville, Ala.) and Nikki Crowley (Phenix City, Ala.) and freshman Sofia Bjorkman (Vanersborg, Sweden).
“We are looking forward to playing someone else and building off how we ended the fall semester,” Trojans coach Matt Terry said. “We are playing with USA and FIU in the first two rounds, so that should be good.”
The Trojans broke 300 for the first time during the fall season and closed the season with a rain-shortened second in the Troy Invitational.
Weather will again likely play a part in this event, with rain forecast for both days in Mobile.
