Trojans Place 11 on Phil Steele All-Sun Belt Team

PHIL STEELE'S 2010 ALL-SBC TEAM

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Troy University Trojans place 11 players on the annual Phil Steele All-Sun Belt team.

The Trojans tied with North Texas to lead the lead with five first team picks on offense. Troy was fourth overall in the league with 11 total selections.

FIU led the league with 14 overall players on either the first, second or third team. The Panthers placed three on the first team, four on the second and seven on the third.

Arkansas State was second with 13 total picks despite having just one first team selection. The Red Wolves had six players on both the second and third teams.

Middle Tennessee finished third with 12 overall selections – with three on the first and third teams and six on the second team. North Texas, which led all schools with seven first team picks, had 10 overall selections.

FAU (9), ULM (8), WKU (5) and ULL (2) rounded out the overall player counts for the league.

The Trojans were led by reshirt freshman quarterback Corey Robinson on offense. He was joined on the first team by senior receiver Jerrel Jernigan – who was selected as both receiver and punt returner – senior center Tyler Clark and junior tackle James Brown.

Sophomore Jonathan Massaquoi was the only Trojan named to the first team defense. Troy had two second team picks on defense – senior defensive end Mario Addison and junior linebacker Xavier Lamb.

Jernigan was again named on the third team as a kick returner and was joined by senior receiver Jason Bruce and junior punter Will Goggans.

The official 2010 All-Sun Belt Conference team, which will include offensive and defensive player of the year as well as freshman and coach of the year honorees, will be announced next week by the Sun Belt Conference. The official All-Sun Belt team is selected by a vote of the league's head coaches as well as one media member per school.
