Trojan Golfer Represented Home Country Against the World

The opportunity of a lifetime fell upon one Trojan golfer, and she answered the call of her country.
Signy Arnorsdottir was chosen by her home country of Iceland to represent her home land in the Women's World Amateur Championships.
"It was a great experience," Anrosdottir said. "Argentina was nothing like what I expected, and the whole trip was memorable for me."
The championship was held at the Olivos Golf Club and the Buenos Aires Golf Club in Buenos Aires, and Arnorsdottir got the chance to compete with the best amateur talent on the globe.
"The field was very tough in the tournament," Arnorsdottir said. "I was matched with players closer to my level after the first day, but the girl I played with on day one was very good. The Korean girls were very good too."
Korea won the team tournament as their team finished one, two and three individually in the tournament at -13, -11 and -10 on the scoreboard.
Trojans golf coach Matt Terry was elated to see one of his players selected to compete in such an honorable tournament as well.
"It was a pretty big deal for her to get invited by her country to play," Terry said. "It's basically tournament, almost like the Olympics of golf, until we can get golf into the Olympics. It was a huge deal. The top three players in her country played, and she is one of them."
Arnorsdottir didn't play as well at the tournament as she had wished to, but the tournament offered her something she could possibly never get the opportunity to do again.
Her airline broke her driver on her flight back to the United States, and while the club can easily be replaced, the opportunity of the World Amateur Championships is most likely once in a lifetime.
