Trojans Place 15 on Phil Steele Mid-Season All-Sun Belt Squad

PHIL STEELE'S MID-SEASON ALL-SUN BELT TEAM
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The four-time defending Sun Belt Conference champion Troy Trojans led the league with 15 selections, including eight on the first team, on Phil Steele's Mid-Season All SBC team.
The Trojans, who are off this week after winning three straight league games to start the year, had eight players named to the first team, four to the second and three to the third team. Arkansas State was second in overall selections with 12 while the Red Wolves and North Texas tied for the second most first-team picks with five each.
Troy's three first team offensive selections should come as no surprise. The group was led by senior receiver Jerrel Jernigan and senior center Tyler Clark, who were joined by redshirt freshman quarterback Corey Robinson.
The Trojans also had three defensive players named to the first team. Senior safety Willard Ross was joined by sophomores Jonathan Massaquoi and Bryan Willis at defensive end and cornerback, respectively.
Troy also had two players named for their play on special teams. Jernigan picked up a second first-team nod as a punt returner and was joined by junior kicker Michael Taylor.
The Trojans' four second team picks were senior running back DuJuan Harris, junior offensive tackle James Brown, junior linebacker Xavier Lamb and freshman cornerback Chris Pickett.
Troy also had three players on the third team. Senior receiver Jason Bruce was joined by senior defensive end Mario Addison and junior punter Will Goggans.
