Troy Honors Academic Excellence

TROY, Ala. - The Troy University Department of Athletics and Student-Athlete Services will recognize 187 student-athletes who have excelled academically in the fall of 2009 at the institution.
Those student-athletes being honored will have achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the fall term, and those student-athletes will be recognized during halftime of the Trojans men's basketball game against ULM on Thursday. In addition to the individual student-athlete achievements, there were also eight teams with term GPA's of 3.0 or higher. Leading the teams with term GPA's of 3.0 or higher was soccer with a 3.41 and volleyball with a 3.52.
"These student-athletes' academic achievement is to be commended," Troy University Director of Student-Athlete Services, Matt Mayotte said. "Their outstanding time-management skills and commitment to excellence is obvious in the resulting grade point averages. They have done everything in their power to re-establish equity to the student in the student-athlete equation."
