Trojans to Scrimmage Alumni

TROY, Ala. - The Troy Trojans' volleyball team is set to welcome some familiar faces to town this weekend.
The 2009 Trojan edition will face Troy volleyball alumni in a scrimmage on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Trojan Arena. The match will be the public's first chance to see this year's squad, as the match is open to the public.
The match not only serves as a test for this year's team, but as a chance for past Trojans to reunite with their teammates. There are 11 former players who have already committed to playing on Saturday.
"We'll have the most alumni that we've ever had for this match," head coach Sonny Kirkpatrick said, "We've had a great response and this event continues to grow."
Included in the alumni that set to return this weekend are a few members from last year's team. Jennifer White, Jean McCarthy and Molly Eubank will all return to Trojan Arena.
With the season-opener just a week away, Saturday's match will give the Trojans some extra work.
"It'll be good for us to play against someone else other than ourselves," Kirkpatrick said, "we'll get a chance to see how the team reacts to game situations."
Saturday's match will begin at 2 p.m. at Trojan Arena and is open to the public and admission is free.
The Trojans will open their season on Friday, August 28th, against Stetson at the Holiday Inn Invitational hosted by the Georgia Southern Eagles in Statesboro, Ga. Troy's home-opener will come against Samford on Tuesday September 8th at 7 p.m.
