Brand New Work Week

The Troy Trojans football team had a day off on Sunday, and Monday was back to business as usual under the lights of Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium.
“We looked a little sluggish I thought, but when we got into competition I feel like the momentum picked up quite a bit,” Trojans head coach Larry Blakeney said. “It was mainly little things that hindered us, but they worked through that.”
The Trojans practice was highlighted with big plays on both sides of the ball.
Linebacker Boris Lee snagged an interception for the defense inside the 10-yard line posting a score, and Jerrel Jernigan made an elusive catch between two defenders that would also post six on the board in a game.
Blakeney also praised the play of Trojan running backs.
“I saw a lot of good things out of Shawn Southward tonight, and DuJuan Harris had a good practice too.”
Southward is a true freshman out of Florence High School in Florence, Alabama.
The Trojans face a new test on Tuesday as practice time moves to 3:30 p.m. The Trojans have practiced under the lights every night of camp, and Tuesday's practice offers new elements.
“We'll find out a lot about our team tomorrow when we go in the heat,” Blakeney said. “The turf out here adds a lot of heat too. We're getting into our school schedule with classes starting on Wednesday so tomorrow brings something new.”
