TROY, Ala. - The Troy University baseball team returns to the diamond for the second consecutive day against an in-state rival, this time taking on Samford University at Riddle-Pace Field.
The game was originally scheduled to begin at 6 pm, but was moved up an hour to 5 pm to accomodate the Sun Belt Conference First Round Tournament game taking place next door at Trojan Arena. The game can be heard on WTBF-970 AM with Barry McKnight and Jerry Miller.
Troy (6-2) enters the game off a 6-2 victory over 23rd-ranked Alabama Tuesday night, in which Ryan Ditthardt delivered a two-run homerun in the fourth to give the Trojans the lead and Michael Precise doubled off the wall and cleared the bases in the fifth to extend the lead.
The Trojans got 4 2/3 innings of hitless relief from Jeff Green, Jordan Mathers, Chris Sorce and Josh Storm to record the victory.
Unlike any other mid-week games, the Trojans must bounce back from a victory in front of the second-largest crowd ever to watch a game at Riddle-Pace Field (2,413).

"Robbby pitched well in his first game," Pierce said. "We would like to see some improvement from that Kennesaw State game tonight."
Troy hits the road following the contest for their first conference series of the season, beginning Friday night at FIU.
