Divine Interception

Troy offensive lineman Danny Franks made an interception once. Check the statistics for Troy football, but you won't find it there. Go back through the past four years and research every game. It was an epic interception though, and it even changed a few lives.
Franks was out at a party one night at a friend's house, and in walked “the girl”. The two had never met before, but that was a streak he ended quickly.
“She was actually there to meet another guy,” Franks said. “We met before she met the other guy that night though.”
Franks stepped in and grabbed the interception of a lifetime. Her name is Elaina Lee.
“She asked me where I was from, and I told her you have probably never heard of it before. It's a small town in Florida.”
Bartow, Florida is that small town and it just happened to be the hometown of Franks' future father-in-law too. The world truly is a small place.
“Her eyes lit up when I told her that, and she told me her dad was from Bartow too. Later on we found out her dad's brother and my dad were roommates at one time.”
From then on the match was struck, and the love flamed up. Franks made strides on the football field and in the classroom, and in between he saved up a little money. Before the Trojans took the field to clinch a fourth straight Sun Belt Conference championship, which was also Franks' last home game, he was getting ready for a personal championship.
“We took pictures for senior day that day. I took one with Coach Blakeney and my family, and then I wanted to take one with her family. I told every body to hang on for a second after we were done, and then I got down on a knee and proposed. It was romantic, and it was what she wanted. She didn't know anything about it.”
Touchdown Franks! She said yes.
But what if she had said no right before game time?
“I probably wouldn't have been able to play. I knew she was going to say yes. We're in love. I wanted to get it done before the game though so I wouldn't worry about it during the game.”
Franks, the risk management and insurance major, will graduate on December 11th. Shortly after he will play his last Troy football game, and then he and Elaina will plan a wedding.
It is possible for an offensive lineman to make an interception. Danny Franks not only did that, he scored the touchdown of a lifetime with it too.
Congratulations Danny and Elaina!
