Gilroy Named to All-Sun Belt Team

NEW ORLEANS - The Sun Belt Conference has announced its 2009 All-Conference team as voted on by the league's coaches. Senior middle hitter Meghan Gilroy was the only Trojan named to the team.
Gilroy garnered second team honors after a stellar senior season. Her 4.23 kills per set average place her 3rd in the Sun Belt and 31st in the nation. She also posted a 4.90 points per set mark, the 2nd highest in the conference and 20th in the country.
"I'm really happy and excited for Meghan," head coach Sonny Kirkpatrick said. "In my opinion she was one of the top middle hitters in the Sun Belt."
The All-Conference honor is the first ever by a Trojan in the Sun Belt. Troy has been competing the Sun Belt since 2005.
Gilroy finishes her career first on Troy's career total blocks list with 298 and block assists with 225. She places second on the career kills per set list with 3.43, attack percentage with .323. Her 1,447 career kills are the third most by a Trojan.
"I'm proud of Meghan and all of her hard work," Kirkpatrick said. "It's good to see the coaches of the Sun Belt recognize her achievements."
