Mother Nature intervened on the Troy University Women's Invitational's final round Tuesday morning, bring the tournament to an early end.
ULM took home the team title, winning by two shots over the host Trojans.
Troy opened the tournament with a 303 and followed up with a 306 in the second round. ULM moved from a tie for fourth after an opening round 310 into sole possession of the tournament lead with an opening day best score of 297 in the second round.
"It was disappointing that we didn't have an opportunity to have our team decide its own fate," Troy coach Matt Terry said. "We played great on Monday. We had a few minor mistakes that we need to polish up before we open the spring at South Alabama."
Sun Belt foe Western Kentucky finished third after opening scores of 310-306 for a total 616, one shot better than Jacksonville State (301-316=617) and four better than South Alabama (308-312=620).
Troy sophomore Haley Lawrence (Prattville, Ala.) took home the individual tournament crown after following an opening-round score of one-under par 71 with a two-over second round score of 74. Her two-round total score of 145 gave her a one-shot win over Angela Drane of ULM, who bounced back from an opening round 75 with a 71 in the second round.
"Pleased with Haley's performance, this is something we have been looking for from her all fall," Terry said. "This is the first individual tournament we have had a player win since 2006 when Shauna McVeigh won this event at Lagoon Park.
"Haley putted the ball very well, and that is something she did back in the summer."
Trojans junior Liz Balkcom (Juliette, Ga.) tied for 10th overall after rounds of 74-79 gave her a nine-over par score of 153.
Seniors Kaley Branton (Cartersville, Ga.) and Desirae Zine (Vaccaville, Cal.) tied for 13th. Branton (77-77=154) and Zine (76-78=154) both finished 10-over par.
Freshman Sofia Bjorkman (Sweden) was two shots further back in a tie for 18th after shooting 79-77=156 on the opening day of play. Other Troy players included freshman Sara Fennvick (81-83=164), and sophomores Nikki Crowley (83-82=165) and Caitlin Rohrbacher (96-93=189).
