TROY, Ala. – The Troy University Women's Invitational Golf Tournament returns home this week as the Trojans host 10 other collegiate teams at the Troy Country Club.
The tournament will feature Sun Belt Conference teams South Alabama, Western Kentucky and ULM as well as state schools Jacksonville State and Alabama State. Others in the tournament include Austin Peay, Tennessee State, Jackson State and Jacksonville.
“After having played this event in Montgomery for several years, I am excited that we have this opportunity to host an event here at the Troy Country Club,” Troy University golf coach Matt Terry said. “The Club has made great improvements in the last year and is in great shape for this event.”
The teams will play 36 holes on Monday and conclude the tournament with the final round on Tuesday. The tournament begins with a shotgun start Monday morning at 8:30 a.m.
The Troy Country Club will play at 6,005 yards for the event, a par 72 course.
The Trojans, who posted their first sub-300 round in their last event, will be led into the event by senior Kaley Branton (Cartersville, Ga.) who is coming off a 10th place finish in her last outing at the Lady Red Wolf Classic.
Freshman Sofia Bjorkman (Sweden) has played five consecutive rounds in the 70s and senior Desirae Zine (Vaccaville, Cal.) who has made steady improvement this fall will join with Branton.
Sophomores Nikki Crowley (Phenix City, Ala.) and Haley Lawrence round out the Troy squad for the tournament.
Freshman Sara Fennvick (Sweden), sophomore Caitlin Rohrbacher (Ocala, Fla.) and junior Liz Balkcom (Juliette, Ga.) will play as individuals in the tournament.
