The Devil and Troy Football
Mama always said “Be careful what you wish for.”
I just mentioned the other day that one of the things I was looking forward to the most at football camp was working on my farmers tan. Other than a neon tan from the lights in the stadium, I hadn't had much luck. Well, I got what I asked for and much, much more this morning.
Hot doesn't even begin to describe the temperature this
morning on the turf!! We were only out there from 9 to 11:30 a.m. I can't
imagine what it will be like in
One player asked me if I could see Satan standing behind Coach Crane, as he pointed deliriously to the south end zone (remember the melted mouthpiece from a week ago?). I assured him I could, in fact, see Satan -- with his pitchfork in hand -- laughing jubilantly at all of us out there!
The heat will do funny things to your mind!
And what happens when you're hot? You SWEAT...which is something I haven't been accustomed to doing at volleyball practice inside an air-conditioned Trojan Arena!! And, for the record, don't let anyone tell you that “ladies don't sweat, they perspire.”
I will attest to the fact that I am, indeed, a lady and the team will attest to the fact that I do sweat...maybe even more than Tavares Williams!!
But, enough complaining! I am happy to report that I scored 85% on my players' names/numbers test yesterday. I'm getting better every day!
I will not, however, be prepared for the offensive signals test by the weekend. I didn't get the notes and don't have a study partner. Let's hope they don't ever get to where they need my help with that phase of the game!
Keep on keeping on is the motto. Only five days of camp left. The scrimmage on Saturday should be intense. There's a lot of taunting going on between the offense and defense. I even think I heard special team guys talking smack today!
Going to cool off in the cold whirlpool until my lips turn blue!
GO TROJANS!
Alyson
