Tale of the Tape
Tuesday Morning...
Random thoughts, off the top of my head this morning...I think that's all the mental capacity I have today.
Yesterday was the first of two two-a-days and although we were in the middle of two practices, it wasn't so bad. Today, I'm a little slower than normal. We were once again blessed with mild temperatures and a nice breeze last night at practice, keeping our heat cramp casualties at a minimum.
I had one player last night tell me he was not cramping as he had in the past and owed it all to our advice of eating well and staying hydrated and rested. It made me think that maybe the words we say don't always fall on deaf ears! The interaction with the athletes is probably one of my favorite aspects of this profession.
Lastly, I want to clarify something I said in yesterday's edition that was brought to my attention at practice last night.
In mentioning ill-fitting shoes and occurrence of blisters, I was in no way referring to the lack of attention by the equipment room staff. Many people, these athletes included, don't really know what size shoe they wear.
They go from year to year, shoe to shoe, thinking all shoes carry the same sizes and fits, regardless of style and manufacturer. That is not necessarily true and, with the different types of shoes available for these guys, fit is determined shoe-by-shoe and foot-by-foot.
It takes a village to raise these guys! We all work together to put the football team on the field day-in and day-out, sharing our own professional knowledge to make the team successful!
Have a great day...and GO TROJANS!
