The Day Draws To A Close

Sunday night
August 3
It is the end of another day here at Troy. Today we did not have to come in to work until 3 p.m., because of the players not working out this morning. This gave all of us a chance to sleep in. That extra sleep was very much appreciated.
The pre-practice setup was pretty much the same. Just putting out all of the practice pads before dinner and setting out the ball bags afterwards. We usually start getting the balls on the field sometime before 5 p.m., since the kickers are the first to go out on to the field. Not to long afterwards, offense goes on the field to loosen up and begin their pre-practice drills. Defense is usually the last to go out, usually 30 minutes before stretch.
Tonight was the first practice in full pads. The drills tonight involved more contact than previous nights to get the players used to full-contact again.
The drills involving the offense and defense were very competitive. The players were very excited about being able to go all out at practice. The competition between the two was spirited and exciting. They really seemed ready to roll during the simulated scrimmage at the end of practice. These guys really looked like they were having fun.
Tomorrow is the first two-a-day practice of camp. I'll report back tomorrow to tell you how they went.
Until later,
Jeff
