Blisters Are A Problem

Monday morning
August 4
The first practice of the day is over and it's 8 a.m. It felt a lot like an Easter morning sunrise service, walking out of the field house at 6 a.m., only a little warmer than most sunrise services I've been to.
The alarm going off at 3:45 a.m. this morning was a lot earlier than I wanted it to. Since I live in Brundidge, it takes a little more time and effort to get here each day. I was sick yesterday and had to be on the disabled list, giving me a day off.
Although I would have much rather been here than where I was! Me getting up that early this morning wasn't as bad as getting up that early after being here until 11 p.m. last night like the others were. I guess I owe them one.
Many of the players getting taped made comments like “Weren't we just here, like, five hours ago?” Yes...we were!
Right now, one of the significant issues we're dealing with is ill-fitting shoes and blisters. A tip to decrease the occurrence of blisters is to make sure the players' shoes fit properly and they are lacing them up from the bottom each time. In addition, turning socks inside-out, so the seam at the toe is not directly on the skin, helps quite a bit, too.
We use second-skin (a gelatinous product with a fine mesh embedded inside) to cushion the area and wrap it up with tape.
We've seen some really nasty blisters so far. Imagine how hard it is to walk around leisurely with a blister on your toe after a long day shopping. Now imagine how difficult it would be to practice three hours with a blister the size of a golf ball on the ball of your foot!
These guys are tough...at least most of them!
Have a great day...until tomorrow ? GO TROJANS!
