COURTSIDE with Sonny Kirkpatrick
With preseason over, we can look back over the past two weeks and finally breathe. The first day of practice to me is always like Christmas...you never know what you're going to get. At times, we did some really good things...and at times, we looked like we've never played before. It's a good thing that we don't play for a couple weeks, we've definitely have some work to do. Every day, though, we got better and I think that we're heading in the right direction.
It seems like each year we battle some sort of sickness that runs through our team, and this year was no different. Much like last season, we lost a player or two each day, making the planning of practice somewhat difficult. Our training staff did a great job of taking care of the team, as well as coaches, and got everyone back as soon as they could. We could never get through preseason without all that they do, and this year was no exception. Kara, Amanda, and Yasuho were wonderful, and made sure that everyone was doing what they were supposed to be doing to stay as healthy as possible.
Our returning players came back ready to build on what we
did last spring, and our newcomers were welcomed with open arms, and a lot of
pain and soreness, that is always associated with preseason. Now that classes have begun, the team is finally
able to get into their normal daily routines.
I know that they're excited about the upcoming year, and it'll be good
to begin our quest again to qualify for the Sun Belt Tournament in
Every day I'm reminded why I love representing
Well, thanks for taking the time to read, and I hope that when you come to watch us, you'll be happy with what you see. Have a great day, and as always...GO TROJANS!!!
