Did anyone notice it was Friday today? You begin to lose track of time during camp. Last fall, I nearly forgot my birthday in early September. We get a break next Sunday, and that is usually the time you sit back and recollect your reality that it's Sunday...not Wednesday or...huh? Friday?
Not going to be too long today...we have dinner, then practice. Just some quick tidbits:
I don't have any music to relate to our lives as Trojans today...but ever since Potter played this song about two days ago, it took me back to Fort Meade, Florida, (my hometown) with that chuggin' bass line, and whining voice... I've been singing the song's title all day: "Guitars, Cadillacs" by Dwight Yoakam. If you consider yourself being "from the South," and don't rock to that one...then...I want my money back.
I tweaked my shoulder yesterday...did some "rehab" today, and iced it twice. Coach Schlar (John Schlarman) reminded us the difference between injured and hurt before camp started. If you're hurt, you can practice. If you're injured, then you can't. I already knew that...it takes a lot to keep me from practicing anyway. Most linemen are like that. We're a prideful bunch.
First day of shells today. If someone tells you that we aren't in pads on "shorts and helmets" days, then they are right...we aren't in pads...but that doesn't mean that a lack of physicality ensues because of the lack of padding. Such is how I tweaked my shoulder yesterday. No pain, no gain.
Tell your friends...tell your parents...tell the worker at the McDonald's drive through...Wes Potter for Heisman. We can't do this without you...0 touchdowns! Come on...
