The Jags added a run in the third inning when Ray Krumel reached on an error by Adam Bryant and scored on a throwing error by Brett Henry go give
South added a run in the fourth and the fifth inning on four hits to take the 5-0 lead.
The Jaguars were able to push a run across in the seventh inning when Krumel reached on a fielder's choice and scored on a RBI single from Ryne Jernigan for the 6-0 lead.
Baxter (4-4) tossed eight strong innings and scattered eight hits while walking three and striking out seven.
Tim Wheeler (4-7) took the loss of the hill for the Trojans going six innings and allowing five runs on eight hits while walking one and striking out one. Jordan Mathers tossed the final three innings and gave up two runs on four hits.
Bryan Miller extended his 19 game hitting streak with a single in the third inning. He also led the Trojans with three hits with Brett Henry adding two.
The Trojans and Jaguars will play the second game of the series tomorrow afternoon. First pitch is slated for 6 pm.
