Trojans Fall to Samford, 4-3

Senior Rob Brown (0-2) came on in the 11th inning and gave up a lead off walk. After a sacrifice bunt and an intentional walk to John Morgan, pinch hitter Bo Smith hit a ball right between the legs of Adam Bryant plating the final run ending the game at 4-3.
Junior Michael Precise hit a ball deep into Alabama Pines behind the fence in left field in the top of the first inning for his sixth home run of the season to give the Trojans (20-13) the early 1-0 lead.
Sophomore Steven Felix singled up the middle to start the Trojan fourth inning. He stole second and scored on a single to right field off the bat of catcher Beau Brooks. Lance Miller picked up Brooks form third on a RBI groundout to second giving

The Bulldogs knotted the game at 3-3 in the eighth inning when Wayne Miller and Michael Marseco both singled and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Michael Rutledge. Bear Burnett grounded out to second but plated the game tying run.
Junior Mike Powers got the start on the hill for the Trojans. He went two innings and did not issue a hit. He walked two batters while striking out one.
Rodriguez led off the ninth inning with a single and was gunned down by Brooks trying to steal second and a ground ball to Pettus at short ended the Bulldog threat.
Jordan Mathers made his Trojan debut in the game and looked good in an inning and two thirds. He gave up two hits while walking one and striking out two in the outing.
Junior Jeff Green hurled the next two plus innings and gave up two runs on two hits while striking out two batters.
Drew Hull tossed the seventh inning and gave up one hit and struck out one batter turning the game over to closer Josh Storm.
Storm gave up two consecutive hits to start the eighth inning with Bear Burnett plating the tying run in the bottom of the inning. He ended up going three innings and giving up the one run on four hits while striking out two batters.
Josh Vanfleteren got the start for the Bulldogs. He lasted four and two thirds innings and gave up three runs on four hits while walking two and striking out three. Tripp Swann followed and went one and two thirds innings and struck out three batters.
Trent Hill gave up two hits in the ninth and with a runner on third with two outs, Bryan Miller grounded into an inning ending double play to get Hill out of the jam.
