BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Trojans look to continue their winning ways on the road after taking the series from Arkansas State this weekend. Troy travels to Birmingham to play the Samford Bulldogs at Joe Lee Griffin Field.
“We had a great weekend in conference play,” head coach Bobby Pierce said. “We just need to keep putting the ball in play and doing the small things that have made us successful in the past, which is when we play our best and get the most out of our players.”
Troy beat Samford last year in Troy at Riddle-Pace Field, but has lost the last two times that they have traveled to Birmingham.
Starting on the mound for Troy is junior Jeff Green (0-2, 9.95 ERA) who is looking for his first win on the season.
Trojan hitters look to continue to keep the hits coming after a weekend of improvements in the batter's box. Bryan Miller leads the nation in doubles with 16, hitting two last weekend to add to his homerun and four RBI for the series. Beau Brooks was able to raise his average to .339 after tallying four hits, one being a homerun, and two RBI for the weekend.
First pitch for the in-state matchup between the Troy Trojans and the Samford Bulldogs is set for 6 p.m. The game can be heard locally on WTBF-94.7 FMwith Barry McKnight, the “Voice” of the Trojans, providing play-by-play alongside color analyst Andy Seiler.
