Troy Recognizes Student-Athletes in Classroom

TROY, Ala. - The Troy University athletics department recently recognized a pair of student-athletes for their work off the fields and courts, and in the classroom.
Senior baseball player Trevor Tyre was presented with the Clements Award, which is awarded to a graduating male student-athlete with the highest overall grade point average. Tyre will receive his degree from Troy University in Marketing.
Meanwhile, women's tennis player Rawia Elsisi was presented with the Sorrell Award which is presented to the graduating female with the highest overall grade point average. She will receive her degree from Troy University in Sport and Fitness Management.
Not only did the department recognize these two outstanding student-athletes, it also recognized the highest grade point average for a team with the Fred B. Davis Award.
This year's recipient of the award is not just one team, but two as it was presented to both the men's and women's tennis teams. The men's team boasted an overall team grade point average of 3.211, while the women maintained a 3.498 grade point average.
