WASHINGTON, DC - The Troy Trojans women's basketball team returns to action Tuesday night against George Washington University at the Charles E. Smith Center, with tip-off set for 7:30 pm.
Troy (3-4) is coming off a 93-45 victory over Spring Hill College Saturday, ending a three-game losing streak. In the victory, the Trojans matched the highest point total for a Michael Murphy-coached team, and was the highest point total for a Trojan team since 1998.
The meeting between the two teams will be the first in school history, and will be the second tournament team that Trojans have faced this season - faced Georgia Tech in the season opener - but will be the first Sweet 16 opponent.
"They are one of the powers on the East Coast," Murphy said. "They are a big team, and will be tough. This starts a stretch of games for us on the road, so Saturday's game was a must for us to be able to schedule. It was good to get a home game after finals, that way we weren't on the road right after final exams."
After the meeting with GWU, the Trojans continue the road streak against Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky over the weekend, before traveling to the Battle at the Border Classic, hosted by UTPA, the day after Christmas.
