Trojans Focused on Improved Play This Spring

Paul Bryant once said, "Failing to prepare, is preparing to fail." This is a quote the Lady Trojans take to heart. It may be the off season, but that doesn't mean the Trojans are letting up.
Since the conclusion of the fall season, at the end of October, we have been working hard on ALL aspects of our games. We have recently upped our workout regimen to four times a week. Shauna McVeigh has helped us tremendously and we really appreciate the time and effort she puts into us.
We recently finished reading a book called "The Power of Positive Thinking," which has definitely helped with the mental aspects of the game. We began reading at the beginning of the semester and had several scheduled book meetings in which we got together and discussed important points from the assigned chapters.
I could see a change in many of the girls immediately, including myself. The book definitely had a positive effect on the team, and as I am seeing results now. I expect to see even more in the upcoming season.
As we have been busy preparing for the approaching season, we have also made an effort to help out in the community. The Student Athletic Advisory Committee recently spearheaded a canned food drive to help residents of Pike County. As the SAAC representative, I am happy to say the girls came through and did their part in helping the less fortunate. I greatly appreciate their contributions!
The third place finish at the end of the fall season has everyone in a good mindset and ready to get back to business! We have been putting a lot into the off season and I have no doubt that this will benefit us greatly.
I have my expectations set high and I am looking forward to my final golf season. Although I am looking forward to the season, it will be somewhat bittersweet. We recently found out our assistant coach will be leaving us in December. John Owens has been a great help to our team and he will be greatly missed.
As excited as I am about the upcoming golf season, I am also looking forward to the football game this weekend against ULL. I would love to see our team go back to the New Orleans Bowl. Please come out and support your TROY TROJANS !
