10/21/2008 5:00:00 AM | Volleyball
DENTON, Texas - When the Troy Trojans travel to North Texas Sunday afternoon, they will be playing for more than just a victory on the volleyball court.
Their match with North Texas will be part of Dig for the Cure 2008, with all the proceeds from the event being awarded to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Pledge sheets will be available at the promotions table to the right of the main gym entrance, and fans can fill it out with the amount they would like to give for each dig during the match.
At the end of the match, the finally tally will be announced and fans are asked to fill the rest of their pledge sheet out accordingly and turn in a check for their total pledge amount. Fans can also make a flat donation as well. Unfortunately, cash donations cannot be accepted.
For out of town fans that wish to participate, please contact Sara Shuler, of North Texas, by email. Send her your name, email and indicate whether or not you are donating a lump sum or pledge per dig. After Sunday's match, she will email you the finally tally and information on where to send your pledges. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to let her know.
The Mean Green will also be raffling two DIG FOR THE CURE 2008 pink volleyballs signed by the North Texas Volleyball team. Raffle tickets will be sold for $1 or 10 tickets for $5. The winner will be announced during the intermission following the second set.
