TROY, Ala. ? Troy University Director of Athletics Steve Dennis announced today that long-time athletics department staff members Sandy Atkins and Tony Ferrante would be taking on new responsibilities in a restructuring of the department's administration.
Atkins, who played softball at Troy and was hired as Director of Compliance in 2001, and has served most recently as Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance in addition to serving as the Senior Woman Administrator, will now serve as Associate Director of Athletics for Internal Affairs.
“Sandy continues to serve as an extremely important member of our staff and the added responsibilities she will take on in this new role are a reflection of the confidence I have in her and her abilities,” Dennis said.
Atkins will now oversee several aspects of Troy Athletics, including administration of numerous sports, compliance, marketing and promotions, the business office and media relations
Ferrante, who is now in his 10th year as a member of the Troy Athletics staff, will now serve as Assistant Director of Athletics for Operations and Facilities. He will serve as the primary event manager for all Troy athletics events and will oversee the equipment and video operations of the department.
Ferrante will also serve as the department's primary contact for current facilities upgrades at Riddle-Pace Field and Trojan Arena, as well as any future projects. He will continue to handle travel arrangements for the Trojan football squad and Troy Athletics' relationship with Adidas.
“Tony is one of the hardest working, dedicated and detail-oriented members of our staff and everyone in athletics leans on him for his knowledge and dedication to the department,” Dennis said. “During his decade here he has had a hand in virtually every aspect of Troy's growth in athletics.”
