TROY, Ala. ? Troy University Director of Athletics Steve Dennis, in conjunction with University of Louisiana Director of Athletics David Walker, announced today that Senior Associate Athletics Director Scott Farmer was leaving Troy for a similar position at ULL.
In addition, Troy Athletics will also be losing Ticket Manager Jackie Farmer, who will be moving to Lafayette with her husband.
"Troy is very dear to the Farmer family and I want to express my sincere appreciation to everyone at Troy University and in the community for all they have done for us over the last eight years," Farmer said. "Troy is, and will always be, a very special place and has been very good to us since we first came here."
The Farmers arrived at Troy University in 1999 from Georgia Southern where Scott had worked for 12 years, first as the swim coach and, later, as Assistant A.D. for Student-Athlete Services.
Since arriving at Troy, Farmer has overseen the internal operations of the athletics department, including oversight of sport programs, support staff and the business office. He has also overseen scheduling, managed budgets and been heavily involved in long-range and strategic planning for Troy Athletics.
"I can look back on my years at Troy with a lot of fondness. Between 1999 and 2003, every sport had a new facility or a renovated facility, and that's quite an accomplishment," Farmer said.
Jackie Farmer became Troy Athletics' first full-time ticket manager three years ago. She has also been heavily involved in marketing and game management functions for Troy Athletics.
The Farmers are both native Floridians and have two children, Kaitlin and Kyle.
