Trojans Win the Series Against UNO

TROY, Ala.- The Trojan bats continued where they left off Saturday night as they continued to pound out hits and score runs as they beat New Orleans 17-4 in the continued game from Saturday's suspended game.
Troy (32-20, 15-11) put up three runs in the first inning as seniors Clint Robinson and Josh Dew singled and scored on senior Kevin Weidlich's 11th home run of the season for the early 3-0 lead.
Robinson again singled in the third and was plated by a home run from Dew. The bomb was his seventh of the year.
The Trojans bats exploded in the fourth inning as they put up seven runs. Senior Edgar Ramirez hit a two run double to left followed by an RBI single from Weidlich and sophomore Trevor Tyre. Sophomore Beau Brooks hit his second home run of the weekend to extend the Trojan lead to 12-1.
Troy added two more runs in the sixth inning when Dew and Robinson singled and scored on a double from Weidlich extending the lead to15-2.
UNO (31-20, 14-12) hit two solo home runs in the eighth inning making the score 15-4. The Privateers hit three solo shots in the game.
Tyre hit a two-run bomb in the eighth putting the Trojans up 17-4.
Senior Joe Halahan (4-5) got the win on the hill going four innings and only allowing one run. He gave up eight hits and struck out one batter. Senior Ricky Ibarz threw three innings Sunday while giving up one run on four hits and striking out three batters. Senior Bert Elliot pitched the final two innings giving up two runs on two home runs.
Robinson led all batters with four hits. Weidlich had three hits and five RBI with Tyre and Brooks each adding three RBI.
