Troy Trojans (27-17, 12-8 Sun Belt)
vs. Louisiana-Monroe (26-19, 14-8 Sun Belt)
Sunday April 29 • 1:00 pm
The Troy Trojans take their longest win streak of the 2007 season, seven games, into a crucial weekend Sun Belt Conference series against league newcomer Louisiana-Monroe this weekend at Riddle-Pace Field.
The Warhawks make their first visit to Troy with a one-game lead over the Trojans for third place in the league standings and, with a strong showing in the series, the Trojans will have a chance to move as high as second in the league race.
The Trojans ran their win streak to seven games on Wednesday night with a dramatic 5-4 victory over intra-state rival Auburn. The Trojans won the game in the bottom of the 16th inning when sophomore catcher Beau Brooks blasted a homer to right.
Against ULM, the Trojans will send senior right-hander Clegg Snipes to the mound on Friday fresh off a complete-game, three-hit shutout victory over Arkansas State last week. Snipes is 3-4 on the year with a 4.77 ERA.
The Warhawks are scheduled to counter with senior right-hander A.J. Ford (5-3, 3.34), who will be making his first start after 17 relief appearances this season.
Saturday's game time has been moved to 3 p.m. so that the game can be televised on CSS. Senior left-hander Joe Hallahan (3-4, 5.51) will start for Troy against ULM junior left-hander Keith Christensen (3-3, 3.93).
On Sunday Troy is scheduled to send junior right-hander Ryan Ellison (2-1, 5.97) to the mound. ULM has not announced a starter for that game.
